Why I Became a Coach

I graduated from Montclair State College with a degree in Food Service Management, as my original dream was to own a restaurant. I spent 16
years in that industry—including eight as a deli owner—but over time, I
realized it just wasn’t fulfilling. I started questioning whether this was really how I wanted to spend the rest of my life.

Around that time, my younger brother Dave was battling a brain tumor.
Instead of focusing on his illness, he dedicated the last eight years of his life to helping others “live their dreams.” His courage and perspective had a profound impact on me. It forced me to take a hard look at my own life.

My love of coaching began when I coached high school wrestling in my twenties. I loved helping young athletes build confidence and discover what they were capable of. After selling the deli in 1998, I decided to pursue coaching again—this time helping adults become healthier, stronger, and
more confident as they age. Today, I’m grateful to do work that feels meaningful every day, and in many ways, it’s my way of carrying forward Dave’s message.

A Little About Me Outside the Gym
When I’m not at the gym, I enjoy relaxing with Kim and our family, traveling, listening to music, watching sports (Giants, Yankees, and “real” wrestling), plus continuing to grow with personal development and business education.

Why I Became a Coach

After years of training women, I kept noticing something nobody in the
fitness industry wanted to talk about.

It wasn’t the workouts that were failing people. It was the way they thought about themselves. The self-doubt. The all-or-nothing mindset. The voice that said, “I’ve tried this before, and it didn’t work.” The quiet belief that somewhere along the way, the window had closed, and it was too late to
change.

That’s what sent me back to school.

I earned my Master of Social Work from Fordham University and became a
Licensed Clinical Social Worker because I needed to understand what was
actually getting in the way — not just prescribe a better program. Now I get
to do both. I help women get physically stronger and help them dismantle the thinking that has been stopping them for years. That combination — body and mind together — is why the changes actually stick.

A Little About Me Outside the Gym

I also work part-time at a perinatal mental health center at Barnabas
Health, supporting postpartum women through some of the hardest
chapters of their lives. What I’ve learned in both settings is the same thing:
when you help someone believe they’re capable of more, everything
changes.

I like to challenge myself in every area of my life. I’ve competed in the New York City Marathon twice, done Spartan races, and stepped into acting and modeling. I also create content around fitness and mindset for women who are done being told that getting older means slowing down. I love being with my family, traveling, and keeping life genuinely interesting.

I don’t believe getting older means disappearing. I believe it’s an opportunity most women haven’t been permitted to take yet — and helping them take it is some of the best work I’ve done.

But the best role of all was raising my three children, who have grown into
wonderful adults.

Why I Became a Coach

I’ve always had an interest in health and wellness, but it became more meaningful to me after overcoming a personal illness. During that time, I worked with a personal trainer who helped me safely rebuild my strength and improve my overall health. That experience showed me how valuable the right guidance and support can be. It inspired me to become a personal training coach so I can help others feel stronger, healthier, and more confident in their own journeys.

A Little About Me Outside the Gym

Outside of the gym, I love spending quality time with my children, family, and friends. I enjoy running, relaxing with a good book, traveling, and spending time at the beach.
